A COVID-19 update on protocols at Canlan Sports Ontario locations

The Ontario Provincial Government has mandated that indoor sport and recreational facilities must close to the general public for three weeks.

Keeping you safe, so you can keep playing.

The Province of Ontario has announced that, effective 12:01 a.m. on January 5th, Ontario will return to a Modified Step Two of the Province’s Roadmap to Reopen.

The introduction of these new public health measures will be in effect for a period of at least 21 days, set to expire as early as January 26th, 2022.

While these measures are in effect, the Provincial Government has mandated that indoor sport and recreational facilities must close to the general public, with the exception of select professional and elite amateur high-performance athletes.

You’re probably wondering what this means for you.

Here’s how it today’s news affects your Canlan Sports experience:

Adult Safe Hockey League (ASHL):

January 3rd + 4th Games: ASHL games for Monday January 3rd and Tuesday January 4th will be played as scheduled. Participants will be permitted to be accompanied by no more than one (1) spectator and dressing rooms will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the scheduled game time. All patrons will continue to be required to provide proof of vaccination, as well as a completed Canlan Sports Health Check form.

Scheduled games between January 5th – 25th: All scheduled games during this time-frame will be postponed at this time. Based on the fluid situation and potential for re-starting games on January 26th, we will be determining the viability for completing the full allotment of guaranteed games + playoffs at each location by April 30th, 2022.

Soccer, Volleyball & Ball Hockey Leagues:

Winter ’22 Season: The start date for the Winter ’22 season at Canlan Sports Mississauga will be adjusted from January 16th to January 26th. At this point, our intention would be to play out the full duration of the Winter ’22 season based on the revised start date.

Winter ’22 Programs

Scheduled start dates on January 3rd + 4th: For Winter ’22 programs with a start date on either January 3rd or January 4th, the first session will run as scheduled, with the program set to resume on or after January 26th, with the intention to subsequently complete the duration of the program.

Scheduled start dates on or after January 5th: Winter ’22 programs applicable to these start dates will be rescheduled to start as early as January 26th, with the intention to subsequently complete the duration of the program.

Contracts & Surface Rentals:

All contract and surface rentals will be paused in Ontario as of January 5th, 2022:

Contract holders will be contacted by their local Canlan Sports Teammate with more information.

As a surface rental holder, you will be able to move your rental to a time-slot after January 26th, when we are able to reopen our sport complexes.

We’ll be providing additional information and updates to our participants as it becomes available.

This is a challenging time, but the power of our sports community is strong.

Canlan Sports remains committed to being an industry leader in maintaining health and safety protocols, and that will continue to be our primary focus.
Please note that the above dates and protocols remain subject to change.
