Canlan Sports & Hockey Canada: Building the future of Rec Hockey together through 2027

Partnering to grow hockey and welcome more participants across Canada.

Canlan Sports is proud to announce the extension of our long-standing partnership with Hockey Canada through the 2026-27 season. This three-year renewal reaffirms our joint commitment to bringing the joy of hockey to over 80,000 adult recreational players annually, while also working collaboratively to expand access and opportunities for new participants across Canada.

As Canada’s leading provider of sports and recreation experiences, Canlan Sports offers so much more than ice time. From our flagship Adult Safe Hockey League (ASHL) and affiliate leagues to our Learn to Skate and introductory hockey programs, we’re dedicated to creating pathways into the sport for all ages and skill levels. With 11 sports complexes across British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan, we proudly host tournaments, deliver developmental programming, camps and leagues, and support minor hockey associations with practice and game ice.

“Hockey Canada’s partnership with Canlan is critical to helping us grow the game at all levels,” said Darren Cossar, Senior Vice-President of Member Engagement for Hockey Canada. “Together with our Members, we have a tremendous opportunity to enhance participant programs and draw on the successes of the ASHL and Canlan’s other initiatives.”

This partnership, which began in 2011, will celebrate 15 seasons during the 2025-26 campaign. Together, Canlan Sports and Hockey Canada remain focused on making hockey inclusive and accessible for everyone, with special emphasis on welcoming women and girls, new Canadians, families facing financial barriers, and equity-deserving groups.

“At Canlan Sports, we believe in the power of hockey to unite communities and create lasting connections,” said Joey St-Aubin, President and CEO of Canlan Sports. “This partnership allows us to highlight the positive impact of the sport and explore new ways to introduce hockey to Canadians of all backgrounds.”

We look forward to continuing this incredible journey with Hockey Canada, growing the game we love and ensuring it thrives for generations to come.
