Youth Basketball Skills Program
Play Hard Hoops is a co-ed camp dedicated to teaching the game of basketball while stressing sportsmanship, teamwork, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude on and off the court. The goal is to have a great time regardless of ability while learning skills and fundamentals to be a good player. Camp consists of stations, contests, game play, and the ability to learn from coaches with college and pro experience.
Dates - Mondays: Monday April 3rd - May 22nd (8 weeks)
Times- 5-6 pm for K-3rd grade and 6-7 pm for 3rd-6th grade
Registration includes jersey
ROOKIE DEVELOPMENT K-2ND GRADE: This practice will break kids into age and skill appropriate groups while working on ball handling, passing, shooting, lay-ups, and defense. The practice will focus on teaching the rules of the game and a greater understanding of basketball strategy while providing and fun and safe environment for kids of all ages and ability.
PLAY HARD SKILLS 3RD-4TH GRADE: This practice will break kids into age and skill appropriate groups while working on ball handling, passing, shooting, lay-ups, and defense. The practice will also focus on more advanced concepts as well as teaching the rules of the game in an encouraging environment for kids of all ages and ability.
ADVANCED SKILLS CLASS 5TH-6TH GRADE: This practice will focus on skill improvement in ball handling, passing, shooting, footwork and individual scoring moves. It will be run very much like a practice that will also incorporate the necessary skills into game situation drills. The class will also finish with controlled game play where continuous instruction will be given in efforts to improve the individual in game situations.
Canlan and Little Volleys Youth Volleyball Skills Program
To develop love for the game of volleyball by teaching the correct fundamentals in an environment that is catered to younger athletes so they will experience success. Learning the proper fundaments at a young age will provide them with a solid volleyball foundation going forward, and will help give them the edge when trying out for their school/club team. Little Volleys Academy camp will develop motor skills (agility, jumping, reaction time and speed) as well as teach the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive mental attitude.
Led By Coach Betsy Spicer Brookbank
Betsy is a Barrington High School grad, who went on to play volleyball at the University of Illinois. She was a two-time All Big-Ten and All-District Award winner who then went on to play professionally for three years. After her playing career, Betsy has continued to coach many levels of volleyball including; collegiately at St. Louis University, as Assistant Varsity of the Barrington High School Boys and Girls programs, and has given individual lessons. She has a passion for working with young kids and loves making a positive impact on their lives!
