If She Plays, She Stays: Canlan Sports Announces She Plays Hockey Committee

At Canlan Sports, we believe hockey is better when everyone plays. That’s why we’re proud to announce the launch of the She Plays Hockey Committee—a group of passionate leaders and experts dedicated to creating meaningful change for girls and women in hockey.

Hockey can be a game for life, but girls and women often face challenges that limit their opportunities to keep playing or take on leadership roles within the sport. We’re committed to changing that by fostering an environment where girls and women thrive at every level, from the ice and beyond.

A Powerful Team with a Purpose

To guide this mission, we’ve brought together an incredible lineup of trailblazing committee members who are experts, advocates, and changemakers in the sports community:

• Brenda Andress: Founder of SheIS Sports and SheIS Sports Network
• Chantalle Butler: President of Molson Coors Canada
• Emily Clark: Olympic & World Champion, Ottawa Charge forward
• Madison Danford: PhD Student at Queen’s University, School of Kinesiology and Health Studies
• Amrit Gill: Broadcaster and Producer at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, Co-Founder of Tell A Story
• Kelley Lee: Professor at Simon Fraser University and Canada Research Chair in Global Health Governance
• Tracy Robert: Board Director of the Ontario Hockey Federation, Chair of Black Girl Hockey Club Canada

This powerhouse group will work closely with Canlan Sports to identify barriers, champion female participation, and help shape initiatives that foster a more inclusive and equitable hockey environment.

What We’re Doing to Change the Game

Our mission is clear: to break down barriers and build a hockey community where girls and women feel empowered to stay in the game. Through the She Plays initiative, we are:

• Investing in resources to keep girls and women engaged
• Building leadership opportunities for women in hockey
• Creating inclusive spaces where they can thrive
• Listening to community voices for meaningful progress

We’re proud to take the lead in this important conversation.
