Canlan is currently looking for a Manager, Strategic Sourcing to work for our Burnaby Central Office.
Rate of pay: $85,000 - $110,000 per year.
Job Summary:
The Manager, Strategic Sourcing is a key leadership role responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies that deliver cost savings, enhance sustainability, and align with organizational objectives. This role includes analyzing future buying trends, creating ROI-driven business cases for purchasing, managing energy procurement and savings initiatives, overseeing third-party lease agreements within the company's complexes and applying for government grants related to purchasing. The Manager will act as a strategic advisor to leadership, ensuring sourcing, energy, leasing strategies and lifecycle planning of equipment and plant infrastructure are forward-thinking, efficient, and value driven.

Accountabilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic sourcing strategy with a focus on cost savings, energy efficiency, and operational sustainability.
- Lead cross-functional teams to optimize sourcing processes, third-party lease management, and supplier performance.
- Act as a strategic advisor to leadership, providing insights on future trends in procurement and lease optimization.
- Manage the purchase order system for both capital expenditures (CAPEX) and operational expenditures (OPEX) over $50,000, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Monitor and recommend the lifecycle planning of equipment and plant infrastructure, ensuring optimal utilization and longevity, while understanding new technologies and provide business cases with ROI when recommendation is made to replace before end of life.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure procurement and leasing strategies align with organizational objectives and financial goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to apply for and secure government grants supporting purchasing strategies and energy projects.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and accountability.
Qualifications and Education
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Energy Management, Real Estate, or a related field.
- A master's degree is preferred.
Abilities, Attributes and Experience
- Minimum of 5+ years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management.
- Demonstrated experience in energy procurement and contract negotiation.
- Experience managing third-party leases, including relationship management and compliance oversight. Able to think creatively and strategically to successfully mediate and negotiate with individuals and groups internally and externally.
- Strong business acumen.
- Able to quickly overcome obstacles to cooperation and to foster harmonious relations.
- Strong project management skills. Able to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.
